What methodology should I use for my knowledge synthesis project?
Knowledge syntheses are multi-component projects that require rigour and structure. For that reason, there are various methodologies that you can select from to guide you through every step of the knowledge synthesis process. Consider the methodology as your "instruction guide" to doing your systematic, scoping or other type of review!
Methodologies for Systematic Reviews:
- Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions
- JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis
- Campbell Collaboration: Policies and Guidelines
- Systematic Reviews: Centre for Reviews and Dissemination's (CRD) Guidance
Methodologies for Scoping Reviews:

- Arksey and O'Malley (2005)
**Just a reminder that PRISMA is NOT a methodology! It is a reporting guideline, and is a separate but necessary component in the knowledge synthesis process.
