Q: How do I borrow an e-book?
For information on searching for e-books, consult our E-books LibGuide. Simply click on an e-book link from within Sofia to access the text.
Most e-books are designed to be read online for as long as you have the page open in your browser. Depending on the e-book provider, you may also be permitted to:
- Download a PDF or EPUB copy of the entire e-book to keep.
- Download one or more chapters in PDF or EPUB to keep.
- Download a limited number of pages in PDF.
- Download a time-limited PDF or EPUB copy of the entire e-book that will expire after a designated period (this can be from 3 hours for reserve items or several days, depending on the e-book).
- Read the e-book on a mobile app from the provider. For e-book reading apps and how to use them, see the Mobile Apps and Technology page.
If you are off-campus, you will likely be prompted to log into EZproxy to read an e-book.
