It is very important to have a backup and recovery strategies.

  1. Make sure you know how to create a Compressed Library (click File, then select Compressed Library).
  2. Create a compressed library regularly, particularly before and after importing or deleting a large number of citations, syncing or sharing the library.
  3. Have a smart file naming system which allows you to find a recovered library if you need to. For example: your original EndNote library is called BRCA2_Project.enl. When you create a compressed library, you can called it BRCA2_Project_Jan9_2018.enlx
  4. Always save the compressed library in a different location than your original EndNote library.
  5. For systematic review or knowledge synthesis projects, it is recommended that you use Rayyan instead of EndNote. If you still prefer to use EndNote, it is vital to create a compressed library at each steps of documenting the PRISMA flowchart.
