First, determine if the company is private or public. Occasionally a simple Google search will tell you this information, other times you may need to dig further into the company structure by either using one of our databases or reviewing their corporate website. If a company is traded on a stock exchange, or has "ticker" symbol, it is a "public company".

Second, determine if the company is a parent or subsidiary. For public companies, reports and financials are filed under the parent company and so you will need their name.

Once you know which company you wish to search and whether they are private and public, you can use the databases on our Company Research Guide to find the best fit.
